Six B teams created for Portugal’s Liga Orangina

thewhole90minutes:

Today the vote to see whether the thirty-two teams would vote to expand the Liga Orangina passed, thus the teams would increase from sixteen to twenty-two, those extra six teams coming in the form of six B teams (Benfica, FC Porto, Sporting, Braga, Marítimo, and Vitória Guimarães.) There is no surprise in this passing, as it does benefit the six teams in question and those are more often then not the top six teams in Liga Sagres. Instead of sending many reserve and youth players on loan, they will now be put into a B team and allowed to compete with those in Liga Orangina. The other change will see three relegation spots in Liga Orangina and three will be promoted from Il Divisão. Other then that everything else remains the same.

Kick sexism out of football.

thewhole90minutes:

Trigger warning, use of the word rape.

Over the past weekend several jokes were made after the loss Manchester United suffered to Manchester City. Many were somewhat amusing, though most were not clever and tended to be boring the fifth or sixth time you saw them. None though up to a certain point had been offensive, just typical football fans trying to make a joke out of a loss. Yet one in particular was offensive. It was the United home kit, with the sponsors name poorly taken away replaced with the word, rape. The man behind this offensive joke said this is what would be the new sponsor for United, the idea being that United had been “raped” by City, that they were weak and therefore taken advantage of.

Many who saw the photo were disgusted. Using rape so easily is harmful; it can be a trigger to those who have personally been assaulted and to those who know of someone who has had this horrific act committed against them. The person who created the image simply laughed it off. It was just a joke; clearly people take things too seriously in football. Yet it is easy for a man to say that. The majority of people who are raped and sexually assaulted are women, whether cisgendered (that means women who are born with female organs and identify as women) or transgendered. This means that those who say things about sports games such as, “Wow, x team TOTALLY raped y team!” often do not and most likely will never understand how traumatizing the physical act can be but also what is left as a reminder and the memories that still linger in the back of every rape victim’s mind. Many who saw the joke also tweeted saying; rape in sports does not mean literally it is just another way of saying weak. Yet what people do not understand is, by even using it in the weak termonolgy you are implying that those who are raped are weak. It is their own fault right? That they must have done something for this to have happened and things could have been done to prevent it. Sadly in the world real this does not  happen. It is easy for those people who have never experience a rape to blame the victim, something that should never be done.

rant time

First off, I’m sorry to all my Spanish fans cos I love you all and I admire your team and I hate when teams lose and then people are sad lmfao NOT THE POINT BUT there we go. The point I was going to make was that I hate fans who can’t admit when their team played badly or didn’t do things right or whatever it may be. I mean I can totally point out Italia’s mistakes during the Paraguay game and know that we did not play that well. Most fans of their NT can. But to say that you were the better team and you deserve to win and that you are better then everyone well…agree to disagree I suppose since we all think that but there is a point when you have sort of say, “we didn’t play that great/defense wasn’t good/lack of communication” This isn’t just for Spain fans cos honestly I didn’t watch the game that closely but for all fans who have to put down other teams to feel better. It is pathetic and sad.

I hope that made sense. No hate to the amazing Spanish team/fans who are classy :)

Also, stop being butthurt about 06 k. We won, we scored, and we did the damn job. IT HAS BEEN 4 YEARS. Yes sometimes people don’t move on but ffs, can we stop acting like Italy just had chances handed to them and fucking won by luck. UM NO.
